Mauritius Equity Watch | 15 July 2015: Mauritius stocks maintained the bullish momentum … added MUR 360 million
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius stocks maintained the bullish momentum at end of today’s trading session. As a result, the Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) jumped by 0.17 percent or 3.24 points to settle at 1,951.02 points and the SEM10 index moved to 371.24 points by adding 1.00 points or 0.27 percent.
The market capitalization increased by MUR 360 million to settle at MUR 216.909 billion (relative to yesterday’s market capitalization of MUR 216.549). The overall total volume trade was recorded at 10.697 million (marginally decreased compared to 10.702 million recorded yesterday). The total valued traded was recorded at MUR 50.537 million (a rise when compared to MUR 46.008 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SBM Holdings Mauritius had 9.322 million at MUR 8.112 million and New Mauritius Hotels recorded 559,265 traded stocks amounted to MUR 10.797 million. Mauritius Oil & Refineries Limited traded 125,600 stocks at MUR 3.454 million and CIM Financial Services ended with a total volume of 109,400 at MUR 897,260.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among 26 traded securities there were 5 upward price movers and 4 downward price movers. CIM Financial Services tops the price gainers’ chart by moving up by 3.70 percent with a closing price of MUR 8.40. New Mauritius Hotels ended at MUR 19.50 after advancing by 1.83 percent, to emerge second on the gainers’ list. The third and fourth were Terra Mauricia Limited and ENL Land Limited ended at MUR 31.50 and MUR 47.00 after adding 0.96 and 0.43 respectively.
CMPL emerged as the biggest loser to stop at MUR 16.20 by losing 10.00 percent. Other price losers were Caudan Development (summersaulted by 4.32 percent to trade at MUR 1.33), GAMMA CIVIC Limited (slumped by 4.24 percent to settle at MUR 27.10) and POLICY Mauritius (plunged by 2.51 percent to end at MUR 7.00).
The DEMEX index returned to green today, by adding 0.32 percent or 0.65 points to close at 207.66 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 49.353 billion, after adding from MUR 49.198 billion recorded yesterday. The total value traded was MUR 284,675 exchanged in 6,237 traded securities. SODIA lost 11.43 percent to trade at MUR 0.31. CHEMCO Limited slumped by 4.13 percent to close at MUR 20.90, EUDCOS ended at MUR 1.07, after falling by 1.07 percent and LES MOULINS (O) went down by 0.17 percent to end at MUR 150.00. While, PHOENIX Investment Limited, United Investment, CIEL TEXTILE and CONSTANCE HOTEL gained 4.17 percent (to end at MUR 250.00), 2.64 percent (to settle at MUR 13.60, 1.07 percent (to end at MUR 37.90) and 0.97 percent (at MUR 36.60) respectively.
